Insolvencies Study in Romania 2018

In 2017, in Romania, 8,256 new insolvency proceedings were opened, by 3% more than in the previous year, when 8,053 insolvencies were opened.Despite the minimum level of the insolvencies registered in the last 15 years, Romania reports an average rate of the ratio between the number of insolvent companies and 1.000 active organizations is of 2.4%, almost twice the average in the Central and Eastern Europe.

It is noticeable that the trend of registrations depending on the business sector varies greatly from one sector to the other. As such, the highest increase is seen in sectors like the manufacturing industry (+122%), recreational, cultural and entertainment activities (+73%) and other activities and services (+60%). In turn, trade and financial brokerage are the only sectors which have seen a decrease of newly registered companies, by -10% (per only 29,555) and

-22% (per 1,455).
